Post-Harvest

Postharvest is the stage of crop production from harvest till consumption. Once harvested, fruit and vegetables continue metabolic processes that change their original composition and tissues microstructure, leading to deterioration. Harvest and postharvest technologies aim to extend these produce longevities and final quality.

The SPBP postharvest working group goal it to conduct state of the art research and provide a comprehensive knowledge platform on physiological and biochemical mechanisms, and the novel technologies, underpinning the final produce quality, thus contributing to the significant reduction of food loss.
